If you've read A Recipe from Rome, you're already familiar with the main character's grumpy cat Tater Tot. "Tot," for short, may or may not have been inspired by my very own grumpy cat.
Animals, especially cats, have always held a special place in my heart. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up.
Okay, so that didn't exactly pan out, but my love for cats and all things furry and cuddly has only gotten stronger through the years.
Recently, I had the rare chance to help two cats-- a mother-daughter bonded pair-- start their journey toward finding their forever home. After fostering them for two weeks and watching them come out of their shells with me, they are now in the capable and loving hands of those at the Evanston Animal Shelter, patiently waiting to meet their purrfect human.
In honor of those two cats, the hardworking staff and volunteers of the Evanston Animal Shelter, and, well, awesome animals everywhere, I am donating 50% of the sales this month from my book A Recipe from Rome to the Evanston Animal Shelter. Those funds will help these cats, and the other animals in their care, find their forever homes.
